2026 Baseball All-Stars Honored by Times Union

Standout players and coaches from large and small schools receive top accolades

The Times Union has unveiled its 2026 baseball All-Stars, a roster that celebrates the season’s most dominant players and coaches across both large and small schools.

In the large-school division, senior catcher Brady Mills of Saratoga Springs earned Athlete of the Year honors after steering his squad to a Class AAA sectional title and being named Suburban Council Player of the Year, a testament to his 27-run production and overall impact.

Coach George Brooks of Averill Park was crowned Coach of the Year for large schools, securing his fourth state championship and reaching the 250-win milestone, while his team’s victory marked the sixth consecutive state tournament triumph for a Suburban Council program.

Small School Honorees

Pierce Byrne, a senior pitcher from Saratoga Central Catholic, captured Athlete of the Year for small schools, boasting a 36-6 career record, a Section 2-record 440 strikeouts and back-to-back state championships.

Coach Phonsey Lambert guided his Saratoga Central Catholic side to its first state title and followed it with a second straight Class C championship, finishing the season with a 23-3 record and showcasing a strategic turnaround after early setbacks.

The accolades underscore a vibrant high-school baseball landscape in the region, where emerging talent and seasoned leaders alike are shaping the next chapter of the sport.
