East Alabama Sports Today has unveiled its 2026 All‑Calhoun County soccer teams, recognizing the standout performances of players and coaches across the county's programs.
Girls' Player of the Year
Layla Garcia of White Plains was crowned the 2026 girls' player of the year after leading the Wildcats to an Elite Eight finish, a campaign in which she netted 62 goals and added nine assists.
Girls' Coach of the Year
Tim Melton of Donoho earned coach of the year honors after guiding his team to a 15‑5 record and a runner‑up finish in the county championship, a season that culminated in a strategic handover to assistant coach Richard Laird for the next year.
Boys' Player of the Year
Anthony Osorto, also from White Plains, captured the boys' player of the year award despite missing seven matches due to injury, finishing the season with 36 goals and nine assists.
Boys' Coach of the Year
Chelsea Mize of Jacksonville was named boys' coach of the year, having overseen a double title run for the Cardinals in both boys' and girls' soccer during her inaugural season, a feat highlighted by a dramatic penalty‑kick victory over top‑seeded Oxford.
The recognitions underscore the rising competitiveness of soccer in Calhoun County, where schools such as Saks and Weaver continue to punch above their weight, and where community programs are increasingly shaping regional talent.
