Season Kickoff and Early Fixtures
The 2026 Metro Conference women's soccer season began on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, marking the start of a packed fortnight of competition across the league.
Sacred Heart University, the reigning champion, opened its campaign at home, hosting Central Connecticut State University at 7 p.m. in Fairfield, Connecticut, a match that set the tone for the season.
Seven of the conference’s 13 programs took the field that evening, while the remaining six began their campaigns on the road, creating a staggered launch that spread excitement throughout the region.
The opening slate featured several early‑afternoon fixtures, including Siena University’s 4 p.m. showdown with Boston College, Quinnipiac University’s 6 p.m. clash against the College of the Holy Cross, Manhattan University’s 6 p.m. encounter with Monmouth University, and Merrimack College’s 6 p.m. game versus the University of Vermont.
Later that night, Fairfield University met the University of North Carolina at 7 p.m., and Niagara University faced the University at Buffalo at the same hour, adding further depth to the day’s schedule.
Additional matches continued on Thursday, August 13, and again on Sunday, August 16, with kickoff times ranging from noon to 7 p.m., ensuring a steady stream of action for fans.
The competitive arc will culminate in the 2026 Metro Women’s Soccer Championship, a six‑team single‑elimination tournament that begins on November 8, features reseeded semifinals on November 12, and concludes with the final on November 15.
Throughout the tournament, teams will be reseeded after each round, a format designed to reward higher seeds and intensify matchups as the championship progresses.
