The 2026 NewsTribune All-Area Baseball Team celebrates the elite talent that emerged from schools across the region, recognizing players who combined statistical dominance with clutch performances.
Offensive standouts
Maks Baker of St. Bede anchored the lineup with a .433 average, 46 RBIs and a blend of power and contact that placed him among the area’s most feared hitters. Greyson Bickett from Hall posted a .304 average while driving in 36 runs and adding 21 RBIs, while Braylin Bond of La Salle-Peru matched a .353 average and contributed 21 RBIs of his own. Carson Rowe of Henry-Senachwine topped the area with a .561 batting average and 23 doubles, complementing his 4 home runs and 31 RBIs. Johnathon Stunkel from Putnam County, though better known for his pitching, also hit .438 with seven homers and 39 RBIs, underscoring his all-around impact.
Pitching excellence
On the mound, Logan Philhower of Bureau Valley posted an area-best 0.85 ERA with 89 strikeouts, while Braden Curran of Hall logged 52 2/3 innings with a 1.86 ERA and 52 strikeouts. Traxton Mattingly of Putnam County went 7-2 on the hill with 74 strikeouts in 51 innings, and Dane Doyle of Mendota added five wins to go along with a .371 average at the plate. Ranbir Saini of St. Bede finished 5-1 with a 2.96 ERA and 58 strikeouts, rounding out a pitching corps that blended durability with precision.
