From Oak Ridge to Farragut, teams battled through a rigorous Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) schedule, culminating in a state tournament that rewrote record books.
Michael Teasley of Oak Ridge stood out as the league’s most consistent pitcher, finishing the year 9‑0 with a 1.15 ERA and 114 strikeouts over 60.2 innings. His dominance earned him the PrepXtra Player of the Year honor for the second straight season, underscoring a rare blend of durability and precision.
Farragut’s baseball program added another chapter to its legacy by capturing a state‑record fifth straight championship. The victory was orchestrated by Coach Garrett Copeland, whose strategic acumen and ability to rally his squad were cited as pivotal factors in the team’s sustained excellence.
Lakeway Christian Academy celebrated its first state title, a milestone that galvanized the program and its fan base. The team’s unexpected run to the top was marked by clutch performances in the final series, highlighting the unpredictable nature of high‑school competition.
Other standout athletes included Myles Cox of Alcoa, who posted a 1.41 ERA and 113 strikeouts while finishing the season unbeaten at 12‑0. Jackson Treece from Coalfield combined a .500 batting average with 63 hits and 38 RBIs, while also going 9‑0 on the mound. Brody Watson of Pigeon Forge earned the Class 2A Mr. Baseball award after delivering 49 hits, 37 RBIs and a .458 average.
Additional notable contributors featured Travis Brummitt Jr. of Farragut, who helped steer his team to another championship; Gaven French of Heritage, who committed to Tennessee baseball and posted 62 hits, 56 RBIs and 17 home runs; and Nick Riordan of Central, who finished with a .419 average and 52 hits. Miles Watson of Alcoa drove in 75 runs and hit 18 home runs, guiding his club to the Class 3A state tournament.
The depth of talent extended to players such as Brody Carr of Jefferson County, whose 0.663 ERA and 7‑0 record highlighted his pitching prowess, and Will Harmon of Greeneville, who nearly repeated as Class 3A champions with a .376 average and 61 RBIs. Wyatt Jones of CAK emerged as a breakout underclassman, notching 59 hits, 44 RBIs and eight home runs.
Defensive and offensive recognitions also highlighted the season, with DJ Lowery of Catholic earning Offensive Player of the Year in DII‑AA East after stealing 35 bases and batting .430. The second team selections, which included Waylon Burgess, Will Price, Joseph Webb and Cainan Crowe, reflected the league’s belief that many more deserving athletes deserved statewide attention.
Beyond individual accolades, the 2026 season reinforced the region’s reputation as a hotbed for baseball talent, with multiple programs reaching the state tournament and several teams setting new benchmarks for consecutive championships.
