2026 Spring All-Scholastics Baseball Honors
The Herald News has unveiled its 2026 Spring All-Scholastics baseball all-stars, a roster that celebrates the finest talent to emerge from the Greater Fall River high-school circuit this season.
At the center of the recognition stands Durfee’s Matt Sherry, who was crowned Player of the Year after posting a .412 batting average, driving in 20 runs and stealing 21 bases while the Hilltoppers secured a Big 3 Conference championship.
Sherry’s impact extended beyond the numbers, as his 12 extra-base hits — including seven doubles, three triples and two homers — helped shape a lineup that consistently pressured opposing pitchers.
Notable Team Achievements
The accolades also spotlighted a host of other standout performers, from Jacob Aurelio of Westport, whose .527 average anchored the Wildcats’ offense, to Owen DoRego of Diman, a Large All-Star who contributed a .519 average and 24 RBIs.
Additional names on the list include Adriel Carrasco of Atlantis Charter, who threw a no-hitter, and Jackson Chase, also from Westport, who helped the Wildcats clinch a league co-championship.
The article further acknowledges league champions such as the Hilltoppers, who captured the Big 3 title, and the Bengals, who earned a Mayflower Athletic Conference championship, underscoring the depth of competition across the region.
Championship Moments and Future Outlook
Beyond individual statistics, the season was marked by several team triumphs, with Durfee’s Hilltoppers and Diman’s Bengals each hoisting conference trophies, while Somerset Berkley and Joseph Case posted strong showings in the South Coast Conference.
Coaches and teammates alike praised the blend of skill, work ethic and sportsmanship that defined the 2026 campaign, suggesting that the current crop of players will continue to elevate the profile of Greater Fall River baseball in the years ahead.
