Hall of Fame Ballot Spotlights 2027
The upcoming 2027 College Football Hall of Fame ballot brings together a mix of historic performers and influential coaches, with two iconic players from the Alabama–Auburn rivalry leading the conversation.
Cam Newton, the former Auburn quarterback whose 2010 season is often cited as one of the most dominant in modern college football, returns to the ballot after a celebrated career that included a Heisman Trophy, a national championship and record‑breaking performances.
Alongside Newton, Barrett Jones, an offensive lineman who anchored Alabama’s dominant lines during the early years of the Nick Saban era, is also listed. Jones was part of three national championship teams between 2008 and 2012, embodying the consistency that defined the Crimson Tide’s recent dynasty.
The ballot also features Ed King, a former Auburn guard who earned a first‑round NFL selection and now seeks induction for the second time, and DeMeco Ryans, the Alabama linebacker who has transitioned to leading the Houston Texans as head coach. Ryans marks his debut on the Hall of Fame list.
Additional names on the list include longtime SEC coaches Tommy Tuberville, Dennis Franchione, Mike Leach and Jackie Sherrill, each of whom have left indelible marks on the conference’s history.
The Hall of Fame selection process will culminate after the 2026 season, with the 2027 class set to be inducted in December. Voters will consider both player and coach contributions as the sport’s legacy continues to expand.
