The 2027 recruiting cycle is now in full swing, as elite high school football players across the country finalize their college choices. USA TODAY High School Sports has compiled a composite ranking of the top 50 seniors, drawing on data from industry analysts to produce a single, easy-to‑follow list.
The rankings blend performance metrics, physical attributes and projected college impact, offering a snapshot of which prospects are poised to make the biggest immediate contributions at the next level.
Commitments and College Choices
At the very top of the list, Jalen Brewster from Cedar Hill, Texas, holds the No. 1 spot with a composite score of 2.67 and has already pledged to Texas Tech. His decision reflects a growing trend of Texas talent staying close to home while seeking early playing time.
Just behind him, John Meredith of North Crowley, Texas, sits at No. 2 with a 3.00 rating but remains uncommitted, leaving several powerhouse programs in the mix as he weighs his options.
Defensive lineman DJ Jacobs from Blessed Trinity Catholic in Georgia climbs to No. 4 with a 5.33 score and has locked in a commitment to Ohio State, a move that bolsters the Buckeyes' defensive front.
Other notable commitments include Maxwell Hiller from Coatesville Area, Pennsylvania, who chose Florida, and Kemon Spell from McKeesport, Pennsylvania, who will stay in the South to play for Georgia. Easton Royal out of Brother Martin in Louisiana rounds out the top eight, pledging to Texas.
The spread of commitments across states underscores the national reach of the 2027 class, with prospects from Pennsylvania, Indiana, Florida and beyond all making significant decisions that will shape college rosters for years to come.
