The 44th Junior League Baseball World Series is set to make its highly anticipated return to Taylor, Michigan, from August 9 through August 16, bringing together twelve youth teams from across the United States and abroad.
A historic venue and a festive kickoff
Heritage Park, located at 12111 Pardee Road, will host the tournament for the 45th consecutive year, a tradition that began in 1981. The opening ceremonies on August 8 will be free to the public, featuring a parade, fireworks and a celebration of the players, while admission for the games remains a modest $5 per carload per day or $15 for a week‑long pass.
Twelve teams, all composed of 13‑ and 14‑year‑old players, will compete in a double‑elimination format divided into six brackets: USA Central, USA East, USA Southeast, USA Southwest, USA West, and the host Michigan District 5. The bracket champions will advance to the championship game on August 16, where the United States champion will face the international champion at noon.
Global competition and defending champions
This year’s field includes five international representatives — Shing‑Ming Little League from Chinese Taipei, the Eastern Phantoms Charter Group of Australia, Emilia Romagna Little League of Italy, Aruba Center Little League and Liga Matamoros A.C. of Mexico — joining the six U.S. qualifiers: Freehold Township (New Jersey), Taylor North (Michigan), Murfreesboro (Tennessee), Roadrunner (New Mexico), Elmhurst Youth Baseball (Illinois) and La Mirada (California). Last summer’s champion, Chung‑Shan Junior LL of Chinese Taipei, captured its fourth straight title, underscoring the caliber of play that will be on display.
Games will begin on August 9 with new time slots at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., continuing through August 12 in a double‑elimination schedule. Spectators can choose from bench grandstands, berm seating and food stands surrounding the diamond, enhancing the community‑focused atmosphere.
Beyond the baseball, the event serves as a showcase for local youth sports and draws families from across the region, reinforcing Taylor’s reputation as a hub for amateur baseball excellence.
