Brian Driscoll never imagined that a simple wish from his 10‑year‑old son would become a community‑wide mission.
Liam Driscoll, a nonverbal child with physical and developmental disabilities, dreams of stepping onto a baseball diamond where music, cheers, and a scoreboard turn every swing into a celebration.
Inspired by Liam’s vision, his father founded the Liam’s Legacy Athletic Association and launched a project called Legacy Ball, an adaptive baseball field that merges sport with entertainment, featuring wheelchair‑accessible seating, covered pavilions, and live announcements.
A Fundraiser with a Beat
On October 3, the nonprofit will host a fundraiser at Centre Station, offering live music, food, and raffles to raise the private donations needed to build the stadium in Baldwin Park.
The event underscores the power of local partnerships; the Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and other groups have already voiced support, while volunteers known as Legacy Leaders will be paired with players to ensure safe, inclusive play.
Beyond the fundraiser, Driscoll hopes to break ground within five years, creating a permanent venue where Liam and countless others can experience the excitement of baseball in a setting designed for participation, not competition.
