A Fresh Coaching Era
Jeff Brennan, who previously guided the Fort Collins boys track and field program to a 5A team title, has stepped into the role of head coach for the football team, succeeding Matt Yemm after his seven‑year run. His arrival signals a shift in leadership as the Lambkins prepare for the 2026 season.
The transition comes with the departure of a large senior class and several defensive stalwarts, including top tacklers and sack leaders such as Kaden Souders, who contributed heavily to the defense last year. Replacing that experience will be a central challenge for the new staff.
Despite the turnover, the program’s internal confidence remains high. Rising talent from the JV squad and a wave of freshmen have impressed coaches, while returning juniors Jaden Smith and linebacker Holden Irby are expected to anchor a defense that aims to improve on recent shortcomings.
On offense, the team will lean on playmakers like Jace Garcia and Preston Mozer, who will inherit the mantle left by graduated stars Jack McKeon and Justin Cranford. Additional weapons — Bode Hammerschmidt, Rigoberto Galvez, and tight end Donovan Dumas — are poised to add depth and versatility to the new‑look attack.
Analysts project a 6‑4 overall record, with a schedule that features tough non‑conference matchups and competitive league games. Chris Abshire predicts the Lambkins will air out the ball, leading to high‑scoring contests, and hopes to sweep city rivals for a third straight 5A playoff campaign.
