A.J. Epenesa, the former Iowa standout who spent six seasons with the Buffalo Bills, has officially signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, bringing his pass‑rushing experience to a Super Bowl‑contending squad.
A New Chapter in Philadelphia
Epenesa arrives after compiling 24 sacks, five forced fumbles, four interceptions and three fumble recoveries in 91 regular‑season games for Buffalo. The Eagles, who run a 3‑4 defensive scheme, are expected to use him as a depth piece behind outside linebackers Nolan Smith and Jonathan Greenard.
A potential deal with the Cleveland Browns fell apart earlier when a failed physical voided the agreement, leaving Philadelphia as the only viable destination for the defensive end.
The move also reunites Epenesa with fellow Hawkeye Cooper DeJean, who is already a fixture on the Eagles’ defense. Both players hope the partnership can help elevate the pass rush and contribute to a championship run.
Coach Sean McDermott and defensive coordinator Sean Desai have praised Epenesa’s versatility and work ethic, noting that his experience could prove valuable as the team pushes for a Super Bowl appearance.
