A.J. Pierre-Jerome, a 6‑9 forward from East Orange, New Jersey, has pledged to join the University of New Mexico Lobos basketball program for the 2026‑27 season, bringing size and experience to a team that now boasts eleven committed players.
A Frontcourt Reinforcement
Pierre-Jerome spent the last two seasons at Butler Community College in Kansas, appearing in 35 games and averaging 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest. His tenure at Butler followed a prep year at Monte Verde Academy in Florida, where he first attracted attention for his defensive versatility and relentless work ethic.
The commitment adds depth to a frontcourt that has been seeking additional size and versatility. With eleven players now signed or committed, the Lobos are shaping a roster that blends proven contributors with fresh talent.
Head coach Eric Olen has emphasized that every Lobos player should be on campus by June to take part in summer practices, underscoring the program’s intent to build chemistry early and hit the ground running for the upcoming campaign.
The incoming class also includes highly touted recruits such as Cooper Flagg, Liam McNeeley and Derik Queen, each of whom brings a distinct skill set that could reshape the team’s dynamics and add further depth across the board.
Before his stint at Butler, Pierre-Jerome honed his game at Monte Verde Academy, where he developed a reputation for relentless effort and defensive intensity, traits that align with the Lobos’ evolving identity under Olen’s leadership.
As the roster nears completion, the Lobos look to blend veteran leadership with fresh talent, aiming to compete strongly in the Mountain West Conference and make a deep run in the NCAA tournament next season.
