In his first two exhibition games in the Bahamas, Arkansas freshman Abdou Toure has quickly caught the attention of coaches and teammates with a blend of scoring, rebounding and defensive intensity. He averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while also contributing 3 blocks, 2 steals and a showcase of versatility that ranged from inside finishes to perimeter shooting.
A Versatile Prospect Emerges
The 6‑foot‑9 forward arrived in Nassau after a standout high school career in Connecticut, where he earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors and represented Guinea at the 2024 U17 World Cup, scoring 50 points against China and posting a 36‑point, 10‑rebound double‑double versus Australia. His international experience and physical tools have already translated into a smooth adjustment to the college game.
Coach John Calipari praised the newcomer, saying Toure can “do a lot of things that regular humans can’t do” and encouraging him to “pull up” more often, a nod to the freshman’s ability to stretch the floor and finish at the rim. The coach highlighted the excitement of watching a player who can both dominate inside and step out to hit three‑pointers.
Associate head coach Kenny Payne added that the Razorbacks boast a young but talented roster, describing Toure as “a very good player with a bright future,” while guard Jeremiah Wilkinson called him “one of the most talented players I’ve ever seen” and noted his rapid learning curve. In the second exhibition, Toure scored 15 points and went 3‑of‑3 from beyond the arc in a 98‑58 victory over Canadian champion Carleton.
