AC Milan announced the dismissal of head coach Massimiliano Allegri and chief executive officer Giorgio Furlani on Thursday, marking the culmination of a season that fell short of expectations.
The club finished fifth in Serie A, missing out on a Champions League spot by a single point after a 2‑1 defeat to Cagliari in the final match of the campaign.
Missed Champions League Spot
RedBird, the American investment group that acquired the Rossoneri last year, described the departures as part of a “comprehensive reorganization” aimed at restoring competitiveness.
Special adviser Zlatan Ibrahimovic will remain in his advisory role while RedBird managing partner Gerry Cardinale will work closely with him to chart the next phase of the club’s rebuild.
Allegri had returned to Milan in 2023 with the explicit mandate to guide the team back into the Champions League, overseeing 42 matches that yielded 22 wins, 10 draws and 10 losses.
The management overhaul comes as the club seeks to address a string of under‑performances that saw the Rossoneri slip behind rivals in the league table.
Further announcements regarding the next appointments are expected in the coming weeks, as the new leadership looks to finalize a strategy that can translate the club’s historic ambitions into tangible results.
