Wildcats Celebrate Back‑to‑Back UAC Title
Abilene Christian University marked its second straight United Athletic Conference football championship during a June 17 ceremony that drew players, coaches and alumni to the campus.
The Wildcats finished the season 9‑5 overall and 7‑1 in conference play, completing an unbeaten run at home that culminated in a 6‑0 record at Wildcat Stadium.
Championship rings were presented to the team, each featuring a gemstone‑set football, the inscription “2025 UAC CHAMPIONS,” the Wildcats logo, and the phrase “BACK2BACK” to honor the back‑to‑back titles.
A detachable top on the ring reveals a miniature of Wildcat Stadium engraved with “6‑0,” a tribute to the perfect home record that defined the season.
Head coach Keith Patterson reflected on the program’s history, emphasizing the traditions that have shaped Wildcat football over the years.
Graduating seniors shared personal reflections, with defensive lineman Kaghen Roach speaking of his love for ACU and his teammates, while quarterback Quayde Hawkins noted that playing for the university changed his life for the better.
Quarterback Cade Fennegan expressed gratitude for the brief but transformative time he spent in Abilene, and linebacker Will Shaffer described how he found a home at ACU after being cut at Utah State.
Defensive back Dorian Plumley stressed the importance of relationships built on campus, while wide receiver Javon Gipson urged current players to seize every opportunity.
Safety Sam Mason, Jr. voiced appreciation for the chance to compete and win championships at ACU, and running back Jordon Vaughn highlighted the sense of community and pride instilled by Coach Person.
The ceremony not only celebrated athletic achievement but also underscored the university’s commitment to developing leaders on and off the field.
