Adam Vinatieri to Join Colts Ring of Honor in Historic Ceremony

The legendary kicker’s legacy will be celebrated during Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Titans

The Indianapolis Colts will honor one of its most iconic figures this October, as future Hall of Fame kicker Adam Vinatieri is slated to be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor during the Week 6 contest against the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 18.

A Legendary Career

Vinatieri arrives in the league after a storied college stint at Colorado, but it was his precision under pressure that quickly set him apart. Over a 24‑year career, he amassed 2,673 points, the most ever scored by a player in NFL history, and converted 599 of 715 field‑goal attempts, including a record 44 consecutive makes.

His clutch performances were never more evident than in the postseason. Vinatieri delivered the game‑winning kicks in Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII and XLIX, and his 14 playoff field goals during the Colts’ 2006 championship run remain an NFL record. He also tops the league’s all‑time postseason charts with 56 made field goals and 238 points scored.

Ring of Honor Ceremony

The ceremony will place Vinatieri alongside 20 other distinguished members who have shaped the franchise’s history. As the 21st honoree, he joins a select group that includes Hall of Famers such as Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne, as well as legendary figures like Jim Irsay and Tony Dungy, whose influence stretches far beyond the gridiron.

Beyond the statistics, Vinatieri’s impact resonates through the locker room and the community. Teammates from every era — from Jeff Saturday and Dwight Freeney to Marvin Harrison and Edgerrin James — have spoken of his professionalism, his steady presence in high‑stakes moments, and his role as a mentor to younger players. His induction is seen as a bridge that links the Colts’ past glories with the aspirations of future generations.
