Rochester Adams High School’s baseball team clinched a spot in the Division 1 state championship game on Tuesday, defeating Brownstown Woodhaven 10-4 in a semifinal that left the crowd roaring.
A Historic Milestone
The victory marks the first time the Wildcats have reached the state finals in three decades, with their previous appearance dating back to 1996.
Coach Andy Lamkin, who also guided the team to the 1996 finals, praised the seniors for their resilience and highlighted the early five‑run surge that set the tone.
The offense exploded in the first inning, plating five runs on a flurry of hits that put Woodhaven on its heels. Seven of the nine starters recorded a base hit, underscoring the depth of the lineup.
Pitching Duel
Starting pitcher Brady Lindstrom delivered a solid six‑inning outing, scattering seven hits and four walks while allowing three earned runs. Meanwhile, Woodhaven’s starter Tristian Spencer exited after just 1.1 innings, reportedly with a hamstring tweak.
Dominic Dumitrescu, a rising junior in right field, drew particular praise from Lamkin for his defensive instincts and clutch hitting.
Looking Ahead
Adams now prepares for a showdown with No. 6‑ranked Detroit Catholic Central, a team that finished the regular season atop its own division. A win would deliver the program’s first-ever state championship.
Fans and alumni have rallied around the team, with many recalling the 1996 run as a source of inspiration. The upcoming final promises to add another chapter to the school’s baseball lore.
