Aden Holloway Pleads Guilty in Marijuana Possession Case

University of Alabama guard enters pre‑trial diversion program after admitting to drug charges

Aden Holloway, a guard for the University of Alabama men’s basketball team, entered a pre‑trial diversion program after pleading guilty to criminal charges related to drug possession.

The arrest stemmed from a March raid conducted by the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force, which uncovered nearly a kilogram of marijuana hidden in multiple rooms of Holloway’s apartment.

Implications for Holloway’s Future

Investigators recovered 964 grams of the substance, roughly two pounds, and also found prescription medications that led to additional charges.

Holloway was initially booked at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a first‑degree possession count and a failure to affix a tax stamp, before being indicted on April 10 on two felonies and two misdemeanors.

As part of the diversion agreement, the athlete must submit to regular drug testing, complete a set amount of community service and draft an apology letter to the court. Successful completion could result in youthful offender status, effectively sealing the case without a conviction.

The case underscores the intersection of collegiate athletics and legal scrutiny, highlighting how institutions manage disciplinary matters for student‑athletes.
