Adrian Autry has officially joined the Virginia basketball program as Ryan Odom’s lead assistant, bringing a wealth of experience from both playing and coaching at the highest levels of college basketball.
A Strategic Addition to the Coaching Staff
Having worked alongside Odom at Virginia Tech from 2008 to 2010, Autry shares a long‑standing professional relationship that should facilitate a smooth integration into the Cavaliers’ system.
Autry’s tenure at Syracuse, where he eventually succeeded Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim, gave him intimate knowledge of the Atlantic Coast Conference and a reputation as a strong recruiter.
The staff expects Autry to play a pivotal role in developing Chance Mallory, who is slated to start at point guard, while also contributing to the recruitment of top high school prospects.
Virginia returns several key players and has added experienced transfers and fresh talent, positioning the team for a competitive season under the new coaching dynamics.
