Adrian Rodriguez etched his name into College World Series lore on Monday night, delivering the third cycle in the tournament’s history and the first since 2024. The Texas shortstop went 5-for-5, driving in seven runs and amassing 12 total bases, numbers that tied single-game records for RBI and total bases.
His surge began with a two-run double in the opening inning, continued with a 418-foot two-run homer in the sixth that completed the cycle, and capped a performance that saw him score four times. Rodriguez’s effort helped Texas roll past Alabama 14-2, a result that propelled the Longhorns into a decisive elimination clash with the Georgia Bulldogs.
A Milestone in Omaha
Rodriguez joins an elite list that includes Minnesota’s Jerry Kindall (1956) and Tennessee’s Christian Moore (2024), the only three players to achieve a cycle in the Omaha era of the tournament.
Supporting cast members also shone, as Anthony Pack Jr. and Ethan Mendoza each collected three hits, while Pack Jr. added four RBI highlighted by a two-run blast that sparked a four-run sixth. Starter Ruger Riojas scattered two runs over six innings to earn the win, while Alabama’s Zane Adams absorbed the loss.
