Adrienne Shibles has been appointed head coach of the Colby women’s basketball program, bringing nearly three decades of coaching expertise to the role.
Shibles arrives after a distinguished tenure at Bowdoin College, where she amassed 281 victories—the most in program history—and guided the team to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, including eight Sweet Sixteen runs. In the 2018‑2019 season the Polar Bears posted a perfect 10‑0 conference record, and she also served as head coach of the 2021 USA Basketball Women’s Under‑16 National Team.

Colby Athletics Director Amanda DeMartino highlighted Shibles’s mentorship, recruiting acumen and alignment with Colby’s core values, calling her the ideal leader to steer the program forward.
Shibles’s hiring also marks a homecoming; she began her Colby coaching career as an assistant in both women’s basketball and soccer, a background that informs her deep connection to the campus community.
