The Texas A&M Aggies are set to embark on an international preseason adventure, heading to the Bahamas for the 2026 Baha Mar Hoops Summer League.
A Strategic Stop in the Caribbean
From August 3 to August 5, the Aggies will face three distinct opponents: the University of Victoria from Canada, Colombia’s Toros del Valle, and Carleton University, also of Canada. The compact three‑day schedule promises intense competition and a chance to test new strategies in a high‑tempo environment.
Head coach Bucky McMillan, now in his second year at the helm, sees the tour as more than a series of exhibition matches. He argues that the experience will accelerate team cohesion, provide valuable game minutes for younger players, and allow the squad to bond off the court through shared travel and cultural exposure.
McMillan’s first season already delivered a 22‑11 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, with the team ranking among the nation’s top‑15 in scoring offense, assists, three‑point shooting and bench production. The upcoming tour is viewed as a natural next step in building on that momentum.
The roster that will travel includes returning standouts Mackenzie Mgbako and Zach Clemence, while ten newcomers will join the mix. The blend of experience and fresh talent creates a dynamic environment that McMillan believes will be pivotal as the team prepares for the upcoming regular season.
The tour also aligns with a recent NCAA policy change that permits college programs to schedule an annual foreign excursion, opening the door for more global exposure and development opportunities. The event is organized by bdG Sports, a company that has been staging collegiate basketball showcases at the Baha Mar resort each November.
Beyond the court, the experience offers the Aggies a chance to engage with fans and media in a new market, reinforcing Texas A&M’s growing brand presence on the international stage.
