A Strategic Move for a Championship Contender
Former Rocket goalkeeper Agnes Stenlund has agreed to a new contract with Apollon Ladies F.C., the most decorated women's club in Cyprus, bringing her professional experience to the island's premier league.
Apollon Ladies, who have captured sixteen league championships since the 2008‑09 season and regularly compete in the UEFA Women's Champions League, view the signing as a strategic reinforcement as they aim to extend their continental presence.
Stenlund arrives after a two‑year spell in the United States where she started 33 matches for the Rockets in the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, logging more than 2,900 minutes, securing ten victories and keeping twelve clean sheets.
During that period she was recognized twice as MAC Defensive Player of the Week and posted a .810 save percentage with a 0.93 goals‑against average, numbers that helped Toledo reach the playoffs.
Prior to her North American chapter, the Swedish‑born shot‑stopper honed her craft with Budapest Honved FC in Hungary, a move that preceded her rise to prominence in the Swedish top division.
The transition to Cyprus not only offers a fresh competitive environment but also places her alongside a squad that has become a consistent force on the European stage, a factor that could influence both her personal development and the national team's depth.
