A New Chapter for the Hoosiers
Indiana University’s basketball program is set to welcome a promising new forward, Aiden Sherrell, who arrived on campus after completing two seasons at Alabama. The move marks a significant addition to the Hoosiers’ lineup as they prepare for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign.
Sherrell’s debut in the Assembly Hall came during an exhibition match, and he subsequently traveled to Lima, Peru, where he helped the Hoosiers compete in four games of the FISU America circuit. Over those contests he posted averages of 14.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.8 blocked shots, while shooting 61.5% from the field, 33.3% from three‑point range and 58.3% from the free‑throw line.
Coaches have highlighted his length, agility and ability to stretch the floor, noting that his defensive versatility allows him to guard multiple positions and to finish lobs, shoot perimeter threes and protect the rim. His all‑around skill set is seen as a perfect fit for a system that values adaptability and basketball IQ.
Head coach Darian DeVries praised Sherrell’s confidence and growth, saying the player’s work ethic and the support from the strength and conditioning staff have accelerated his development. As the Hoosiers look toward the 2026‑27 season, Sherrell is expected to play a pivotal role in expanding the team’s tactical options.
