A Celebration of Grassroots Baseball
The upcoming 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will open with a special pregame video that spotlights a group of youngsters from Akron, Ohio. Filmed on the modest diamonds of Judith Resnik Community Learning Center’s Resnik Field, the footage captures the energy of the West Akron Baseball & Softball League’s summer season.
Founded in 1957, the nonprofit league serves children between the ages of five and fourteen across the western part of the city. Its mission is to teach the fundamentals of the game while fostering teamwork and community spirit.
The video is slated to debut on the evening of Tuesday, July 14, just before the first pitch of the All-Star contest in Philadelphia. Coverage will begin at 7 p.m. on Fox, with the broadcast reaching millions of viewers nationwide.
Matt Timbrook, president of the West Akron Baseball & Softball League, said the league is honored to be part of a national celebration of the sport. “Seeing our kids on a stage that showcases the very best of baseball is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers and families,” he remarked.
Beyond the local spotlight, the production aims to capture the universal spirit of baseball, highlighting players from communities across the country who share the same love of the game.
