The 2027 Recruiting Landscape
Alabama’s men’s basketball program is turning its attention to the Class of 2027, a group that could reshape the roster in the years ahead. Coach Nate Oats and his top aide Preston Murphy have yet to lock in a verbal commitment, but the staff is actively courting several of the nation’s most coveted prospects.
Among them, 4‑star shooting guard RJ Moore has placed Alabama in his top seven schools and is slated to take an official visit on September 25. The 6‑foot‑5 wing also lists Texas Tech, Utah and Wake Forest among his considerations, making the Crimson Tide a central piece of his decision‑making.
Devin Cleveland, a top‑25 recruit, is weighing Alabama alongside Arkansas, Marquette, Michigan, Missouri, Syracuse and TCU. After unofficial trips to Michigan and Marquette, he will head to Missouri on October 3 for an official visit, a step that could tip the scales.
Malachi Jordan, ranked No. 14 overall in the 2027 class, has Alabama among eight finalists that also include Kansas, Ohio State, Tennessee, UConn, USC, Vanderbilt and Washington. The forward’s list reflects a blend of traditional powerhouses and emerging contenders.
Official Visits and Unofficial Trips
Chase Lumpkin, the No. 35 recruit, will return to Tuscaloosa on September 19 when the football team hosts Florida State. The visit aligns with a broader pattern of recruits pairing basketball interest with football game experiences.
Point guard TJ Jamison, a 4‑star prospect, has already sampled the campus on unofficial trips and plans a series of official visits in October, beginning with Alabama’s football showdown against Georgia. His itinerary also includes stops at Arkansas, Baylor, LSU, Maryland, Miami, Oklahoma State and SMU.
