Alabama’s football program will open fall camp on August 5, 2026, a date that marks the first step toward the September 5 season opener against East Carolina. The first practice is already generating buzz as coaches begin to shape the roster that will define the Tide’s campaign.
Quarterback Battle Takes Center Stage
The early days of camp have already spotlighted a quarterback duel that could define the Tide’s offensive identity. Austin Mack and true freshman Keelon Russell are trading reps, with Mack slated to lead the initial series but both players expected to see their positions shift as the depth chart evolves.
At running back, the coaching staff has identified Daniel Hill and Kevin Riley as the primary options, drawing on their 2025 experience. AK Dear is also back for additional work, while five‑star recruit EJ Crowell is pushing for a spot and could force a rotation.
Wide receiver corps features Ryan Coleman‑Williams and Lotzeir Brooks as the clear top two, but the race for the third slot remains open. Rico Scott, Derek Meadows and the highly touted freshman Cederian Morgan are all vying for that role.
The tight end room is anchored by Kaleb Edwards and Josh Ford, who are expected to handle the bulk of the snaps. Marshall Pritchett will also see action in 12‑personnel packages, adding versatility to the group.
Up front, the offensive line appears set. The starting five — Jackson Lloyd at left tackle, Tyrell Miller at left guard, William Sanders at left guard, Racin Delgatty at center, and Michael Carroll at right guard — will be complemented by depth pieces such as transfers Ethan Fields and Nick Brooks.
Defensively, the line will be led by Devan Thompkins and Desmond Umeozulu, while London Simmons, Terrance Green, Jeremiah Beaman, Kedrick Bingley‑Jones, Steve Bolo Mboumoua, Edric Hill and Isaia Faga provide depth and competition.
Linebacker corps includes veteran Caleb Woodson, emerging talent Cayden Jones and a surprise package featuring QB Reese, while freshman Xavier Griffin could make an early impact.
In the secondary, the starting lineup is locked in with Zabien Brown, Dijon Lee Jr., Bray Hubbard, Keon Sabb and Red Morgan. Depth will revolve around the versatile Red Morgan, who can slide between safety and nickel roles.
Special teams have experience at kicker and punter. Lorcan Quinn will handle kicking duties, though consistency will be a focus, while Adam Watford will punt. Return duties are expected to be led by Lotzeir Brooks, with Rico Scott and Ryan Coleman‑Williams also in the mix.
