Alabama Men’s Basketball Bolsters Staff with Pierre and Accetta Appointments

New director of player development and director of program relations bring NBA and operational expertise to enhance player development and administrative efficiency

New Leadership Roles

Alabama men’s basketball announced two key staffing changes, naming Josh Pierre as director of player development and Alex Accetta as director of program relations, a move designed to reinforce the program’s administrative and logistical framework.

Pierre, who has spent the past four seasons in operations and previously served as director of Basketball Operations from 2022 through 2026, will now oversee player development, drawing on his deep familiarity with the program’s day‑to‑day functions and his proven track record in building operational efficiency.

Accetta, the spouse of head coach Nate Oats, who married her in late July, returns to the university after a stint in VIP and executive hospitality with the Tide and four seasons with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, where she managed end‑to‑end logistics for team ownership, visiting groups, league executives and corporate partners; she will report to executive deputy AD Shane Lyons rather than directly to Oats.

Head coach Nate Oats praised Pierre’s instincts and his ability to raise the program’s standards, noting that the new appointments will help elevate both player development and overall program administration.

The hires reflect Alabama’s strategy of tapping seasoned basketball and hospitality professionals to strengthen player development and program operations, a step that could enhance the team’s competitiveness within the SEC.
