Alabama’s 2027 football recruiting class received a boost this weekend when four-star running back Nigel Newkirk announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide.
A Recruiting Surge in Tuscaloosa
Newkirk’s official visit to Tuscaloosa gave him an up-close look at the program’s facilities and coaching staff, a factor that helped seal his decision.
The class already features a five-star quarterback, Elijah Haven, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a four-star linebacker, Kenneth Simon II, from Brentwood, Tennessee, while the weekend also brought other top prospects such as Hayes Fawcett, Monshun Sales, Hayden Stepp, Darrius White, Mitchell Turner, Antwan Jacksob and Osani Gayles to campus.
Recent moves in the market have seen Colt Lumpris flip to Michigan, while edge rushers Jabarrius Garror and Ba'Roc Willis have each redirected their commitments to other programs, and interior lineman Jatori Williams has pledged to Miami, illustrating the fluid landscape that still leaves Alabama with a deep pool of talent.
Among the remaining pledges are four-star quarterback Trent Seaborn from Alabaster, Alabama, defensive lineman AJ Pauley, linebacker Stevan Thornton III, tight end Oakley Keegan, and several others including Nash Johnson III, who have signaled their intent to join the 2027 cohort, a group that could shape the team’s future on both sides of the ball.
