A Boost for the Crimson Tide
Alabama’s football program has added a highly touted piece to its future roster. Tai Phillips, a four‑star running back from South Carolina, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide, marking the second running back to join the 2027 class after Nigel Newkirk.
Ranked No. 856 among all prospects and No. 17 within the Palmetto State, Phillips brings a blend of size, speed and elusiveness that has drawn attention from analysts and coaches alike. His pledge was first reported by On3, which noted the significance of the commitment for Alabama’s recruiting momentum.
The class already boasts a diverse set of signees, from Elijah Haven and Kenneth Simon II to Trent Seaborn, AJ Pauley, Stevan Thornton III, Michael Nnabuife, Oakley Keegan and Luke Cody. Each brings a different skill set, but the early focus remains on building depth at the running back position.
Looking Ahead
Beyond the 2027 group, the coaching staff is also monitoring the progress of prospects who may shape the 2028 slate, while keeping an eye on a handful of decommitments that could reshape the board as signing day approaches. For fans, the additions signal a continued effort to maintain Alabama’s reputation as a pipeline for elite talent, ensuring the Crimson Tide remain a dominant force in the years to come.
