A Fresh Defensive Addition
The University of Alaska Fairbanks announced this week that defenseman Linden Burrett has committed to the Nanooks for the 2026‑27 season, adding a seasoned blue‑liner to a roster that is shaping up for a competitive campaign.
A native of Surrey, British Columbia, Burrett arrives after five years navigating the Western Hockey League and the British Columbia Hockey League, where he honed his defensive instincts and skating ability.
During the 2025‑26 campaign he posted a career‑high 35 points, including eight goals and 27 assists in 64 games, and contributed seven playoff points over 20 appearances.
At 6‑2 and 183 pounds, he shoots right‑handed from the blue line, offering size and a polished skill set that the coaching staff believes will complement the existing defensive group.
Head coach Erik Largen praised the new addition, describing Burrett as a smooth, intelligent defenseman whose decision‑making and skating make him a natural fit for the team’s defensive core.
A Look Ahead
Burrett’s journey includes stints with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, the Calgary Hitmen, and the Prince Albert Raiders, as well as brief appearances with the Surrey Eagles in the BCHL.
The Nanooks will reveal additional signings in the coming weeks, but for now the focus is on integrating Burrett into the lineup and preparing for the upcoming season.
Fans and analysts alike are watching closely as the team blends youthful talent with veteran savvy, hoping the new defensive pairings can translate into stronger results on the ice.
