A group of teenage soccer players from Alaska has captured national attention after securing a place in the 2026 US Youth Soccer National Championships.
Rising Stars from Juneau-Douglas
Bryce Haygood, a junior at Juneau-Douglas High School, and Troy Edgar, also a junior, are members of the Alaska Rush squad that won the 2026 US Youth Soccer Northwest Presidents Cup National Qualifier.
Coach Seth O’Banion praised Haygood as a versatile utility player and highlighted Edgar’s speed and goal‑scoring ability, noting that both have been with the club for several years.
The duo first joined Alaska Rush after impressive performances at a state cup tournament, a pathway that opened the door to regional and now national competition.
Challenges and Community Support
Traveling to Wichita for the national championships poses logistical hurdles, including fundraising and rapid itinerary planning, but the team remains focused on representing their community with pride.
Coach O’Banion emphasized that Haygood and Edgar will carry the hopes of Alaska’s soccer community as they compete on a national stage.
