Albertsons Stadium vies for national honor
Boise State University’s Albertsons Stadium has been selected by a USA TODAY expert panel as a nominee for the publication’s “Best College Football Stadium” honor, a distinction that highlights the venue’s unique place in modern college football.
The nomination comes with an online fan vote that will remain open through August 17 at 10 a.m. Mountain Time, giving supporters a chance to influence the final Top 10 list that will be revealed on August 26 at noon Eastern.
Jeramiah Dickey, Boise State’s Director of Athletics, expressed gratitude to USA TODAY for the recognition, emphasizing that the stadium’s blue playing surface has become a cultural touchstone for fans across the country.
This marks the first time Albertsons Stadium has been put forward for the award, underscoring a new chapter for a facility that has already earned three consecutive titles for “Best Attraction for Sports Fans” thanks to its iconic turf.
Honoring legends on the field
In a nod to recent on‑field triumphs, the Broncos will soon adorn the sidelines with orange hash marks honoring standout alumni Ashton Jeanty and Kellen Moore, cementing their legacy within the stadium’s fabric.
The Broncos boast a historic home record of 218‑46 since the turf’s installation in 1986, the highest winning percentage among FBS programs since 1996, and have posted at least eight victories in 24 of the past 26 seasons.
Attendance data further illustrates the stadium’s draw: every regular‑season game since the start of the 2024 campaign has been sold out, with the team recording seven sell‑outs in 2024 alone, setting program records for both total and average crowds.
The upcoming announcement on August 26 will not only crown the year’s top venues but also celebrate the enduring spirit of college football that resonates from Boise to the national stage.
