A New Chapter for Bowman
Alex Bowman, currently 29th in the NASCAR Cup Series, has signed a one‑year extension with Hendrick Motorsports that will keep him behind the wheel through the 2027 season. The agreement follows a period of injury setbacks, including concussion‑like symptoms and a broken vertebra that sidelined him in 2022 and 2023.
Bowman took the opportunity to thank team owner Rick Hendrick, Ally, Chevrolet and the entire Hendrick Motorsports organization for their continued support. He said he intends to make the most of his remaining time on the track and finish the season with a strong performance, aiming to close his career on a high note.
Looking Toward Retirement
While the 2027 schedule will mark his final full‑time campaign, Bowman emphasized that he still plans to compete for wins and to leave the sport on his own terms. His average finishing position this year sits at 21.765, the lowest since his rookie season in 2015, underscoring both the challenges he has faced and the resilience he has shown.
The deal also reflects a broader partnership with Chevrolet and Ally, brands that have been integral to his racing program. Both companies have voiced confidence in Bowman’s ability to deliver results before he steps away from the sport.
