Kentucky’s football program has added a familiar face to its front office, appointing Alex Brown as assistant general manager. The move, confirmed by head coach Will Stein, underscores a strategic push to bolster the team’s talent pipeline through experienced personnel evaluation and recruiting.
A Career Built on Scouting and Development
Brown’s professional journey spans more than a decade of scouting and player personnel work across the NFL and major college programs. He began as a national scout for the Atlanta Falcons and later contributed to the East-West Shrine Bowl, gaining a reputation for identifying underrated talent. His tenure at Ole Miss as director of player personnel coincided with a top‑20 high school recruiting class and the No. 3 transfer portal class nationally, highlighting his ability to shape competitive rosters.
Prior to his Ole Miss role, Brown served as senior director of player personnel and general manager at SMU in 2023, where he oversaw roster construction and strategic planning. Earlier stops included three years at Rice University and formative positions at the University of Houston from 2015 to 2019, where he honed his skills in recruiting and personnel analysis. His background also includes research assistance for the NFL Draft on NFL Network and scouting work with Optimum Scouting, further diversifying his evaluative toolkit.
Alignment with Kentucky’s Vision
Head coach Will Stein emphasized that Brown’s expertise aligns directly with the program’s ambition to build a cohesive, competitive squad. "His relationships in recruiting and his knack for constructing balanced rosters will complement our offensive philosophy," Stein said. Brown expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the program’s approach under Stein and Pete Nochta resonated with his own philosophy of fostering strong player‑coach relationships.
Beyond his professional credentials, Brown graduated cum laude from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. The native Texan brings both analytical rigor and a deep appreciation for collegiate athletics to his new role in Lexington.
Looking Ahead
As the Wildcats prepare for the upcoming season, the addition of Alex Brown is expected to accelerate recruiting initiatives and refine the team’s talent acquisition strategy. His proven track record suggests that Kentucky’s roster development will continue to evolve, positioning the program for sustained growth in a highly competitive landscape.
