Alex Huang, the 18‑year‑old defenseman who helped the Chicoutimi Saguenéens capture the Gilles‑Courteau Trophy, was selected by the Nashville Predators in the fourth round of the 2025 NHL Draft.
During his final junior season he recorded 70 points in 62 games, added a plus‑58 rating and contributed 19 points in the playoffs, experiences he says have prepared him for the speed and physicality of college hockey.
A Draft Story Rooted in Quebec
Huang’s three‑year stint with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens culminated in a championship that included a Memorial Cup appearance, where he faced prospects such as Cameron Reid and Hiroki Gojsic.
He praised teammates like Egor Surin for their physicality, Tommy Bleyl for their skating and Aiden Fink for their development, all of whom left an impression on his preparation for the next level.
