The Liberty University men's soccer program announced this spring that Alex Krakowiak will join the coaching staff as an assistant beginning in the 2026 season. The move brings a familiar face back to the campus, where Krakowiak previously distinguished himself both as a player and a scholar.
From Campus Star to Coaching Mentor
Krakowiak’s collegiate career began at James Madison University, where he appeared in 60 matches, earned team captain honors, and helped the Dukes reach the 2023 NCAA Sweet 16. His defensive midfield prowess earned him All‑Sun Belt second‑team recognition in 2022 and a CAA third‑team nod in 2021, along with multiple academic accolades on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2023, Krakowiak transitioned to professional soccer, spending two seasons with Lynchburg FC in the USPL. During that time the club captured the 2026 DMV South Regular Season Championship, and Krakowiak also contributed as a player in 2025 before shifting focus to coaching.
His coaching résumé includes stints with Central Virginia United, where he guided the U15 Boys team and offered private training since 2022, as well as roles with Lynchburg FC’s coaching staff over the past two seasons. Internationally, Krakowiak represented Polish youth national teams at the U16‑U19 levels and trained with the Toronto FC Academy, facing elite clubs such as Real Madrid, Arsenal and River Plate.
A Global Perspective on Local Growth
Beyond the pitch, Krakowiak’s multicultural background — shaped by experiences in Canada, Poland and the United States — enriches the team’s dynamics. He brings not only tactical insight but also a commitment to academic excellence, having been recognized on several honor rolls throughout his collegiate years.
Liberty’s athletic director highlighted Krakowiak’s blend of playing experience, coaching acumen and community involvement as a perfect fit for the program’s ambitions. "We are excited to welcome Alex back to Liberty as a mentor for our student‑athletes," the director said, "where his journey from standout player to emerging coach will inspire the next generation of Flames."
