The Alexandria Post 87 Senior Legion baseball squad traveled to Minnesota on Monday, July 6, to contest a doubleheader against the Bemidji team, only to walk away with two defeats.
Game 1: Bemidji’s Fourth‑Inning Surge
Bemidji erupted for six runs in the fourth and added two more in the fifth, turning a modest early deficit into a 9‑2 victory. Connor Anderson paced Alexandria with two runs and a double, while Jackson Waltzing contributed a 2‑for‑4 effort that included a double. Griffin Wimmer took the loss, surrendering seven runs on seven hits over four innings.
Game 2: A Late Collapse
Alexandria opened a 7‑1 lead, but Bemidji answered with a nine‑run seventh inning to clinch an 11‑7 win. Ty Miller was flawless at the plate, going 4‑for‑4 with two RBIs, and Jackson Waltzing added a home run and two runs scored. Landon Gess‑Norling delivered five strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits.
The twin losses drop the Post 87 record to three defeats in their last four outings after a promising start to the season, and the team is slated to compete in the Gopher Classic beginning Friday, July 10.
