All‑State Honors Celebrate Local Pitchers and Hitters
The Texas Sports Writers Association has released its Class 3A All‑State baseball team, spotlighting the state’s most dominant performers. Among the honorees are Colt Bullard of Tatum, Mason Sherman of New Diana and Will McIntire of Boyd, each of whom played pivotal roles in their squads’ deep postseason runs.
Bullard earned a second‑team nod after posting a 12‑1 record with a 1.23 ERA, 74 strikeouts and only 25 walks over 74.2 innings for the 26‑8 Eagles. His consistency on the mound gave his team a reliable anchor as they chased a state title.
Sherman, recognized on the third team, finished the year batting .415 and added seven doubles, 35 runs, 19 RBIs, 29 stolen bases and 14 walks. His speed and contact‑hitting helped shape a potent lineup that kept opponents guessing.
The crown jewel of the awards was the selection of Will McIntire as Player of the Year. The right‑hander finished 12‑1 with a microscopic 0.28 ERA, 139 strikeouts and just 11 walks in 74 1/3 innings. He also powered the offense with a .405 average and 45 RBIs while playing shortstop, and he allowed only one earned run during the postseason en route to the Class 3A Division I state championship.
Boyd’s success did not stop on the field. Head coach Bradley McIntire was named Coach of the Year after guiding the team to a 39‑3 record and the program’s first state title in school history. The coach’s blend of strategic pitching rotations and a disciplined batting order proved decisive in the championship series.
The all‑state team also featured honorable mentions for Grant Adcock of Tatum and Levi Green of New Diana, underscoring the depth of talent across the region. As the season closes, these players and their programs look ahead to next year with high expectations, hoping to build on the momentum generated by their award‑winning performances.
