Allison Skrec has accepted a new role as head coach of the Chatham High School girls basketball program, bringing a six‑year record of playoff appearances and steady program growth to a new community.
A Coach Shaped by Family and Early Experience
Skrec’s basketball journey began at Roselle Catholic High School, where she played and served as an assistant under her father, Joe Skrec. After a standout collegiate career at Manhattan University, she continued her development as a graduate assistant at Seton Hall University, gaining valuable experience that would later inform her own coaching style.
During her tenure at Cranford High School, she led the team to the state playoffs in each of her final five seasons, a streak that cemented her reputation as one of New Jersey’s most consistent coaches and helped raise the program’s competitive profile.
A New Chapter and a Community’s Gratitude
In 2020, Skrec succeeded Jacqueline Dyer as head coach at Cranford, inheriting a program with a strong foundation and guiding it through a period of transition. This year, she will succeed Joe Gaba at Chatham, who recently moved on to an assistant role at Lafayette College. In a public statement, Skrec expressed deep gratitude for the support she received at Cranford and outlined an excitement to build on the groundwork laid by previous coaches as she steps into her new position.
