Allmendinger and Dillon Navigate Michigan’s Chaos

Despite a record number of cautions, both drivers finish strong as the series heads to Pocono

Kaulig Racing’s AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon took part in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway, a two‑mile, D‑shaped oval that lived up to its reputation for high‑octane competition. The event was marked by a record number of accidents, with nearly a quarter of the laps run under caution.

A Turn of Fortune at Michigan

Allmendinger, who started the race in 18th, managed to hold his position early on before a spin on lap 78 threatened his momentum. He recovered to finish 17th, showcasing the speed that the team had hinted at throughout the weekend.

Dillon, who began the day in 17th, moved up to 11th by the end of the first stage and even jumped to 19th after a four‑tire stop in Stage 2. However, a 10‑car accident later in the event damaged his car, forcing him to finish 24th despite a strong start.

Looking Ahead to Pocono

The series will reconvene on June 14 at Pocono Raceway, where the same two drivers will look to translate their Michigan experience into a stronger showing. The race will be streamed on Prime, carried by MRN, and heard on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90) at 3 p.m. EDT.

Both drivers expressed appreciation for their crews. Allmendinger thanked the team for its hard work and said the focus now shifts to the upcoming event, while Dillon praised the Kaulig Racing effort and voiced optimism for the remainder of the season.
