Ally Duncan, a third‑base standout for Evart High School’s softball team, helped guide the Wildcats to an unblemished 42‑0 record before their run ended in the state semifinals.
The journey was anything but ordinary. At the close of the previous season Duncan suffered a torn ACL, a setback that could have derailed her senior year. Yet, after weeks of rehabilitation she was cleared to practice and entered the new campaign with a renewed sense of purpose.
Coach Shaun Gray quickly noticed the transformation. He praised Duncan’s growing confidence on the field and highlighted her improved timing at the plate, noting that her presence steadied the lineup during critical moments.
A Clutch Performance
One of the season’s defining moments came against Midland Dow, where Duncan delivered a clutch hit that underscored the importance of mindset. She described the experience as a reminder to stay ahead in the count and keep the dugout upbeat, a philosophy that helped the team preserve its perfect streak.
Beyond the diamond, Duncan balances her athletic ambitions with basketball, suiting up for the Wildcats in the winter season. Her versatility across sports reflects a broader goal: to be a cornerstone player for Evart’s 2027 softball squad while continuing to excel on the hardwood.

Duncan emphasized that the Wildcats never fixated on the win‑loss column; instead, they focused on maintaining a constructive attitude in the dugout, a mindset that Coach Gray believes fuels sustained excellence.
