Under a crisp evening sky at Mansion Park, the stage is set for the much‑anticipated White Out preview, a ritual that marks the start of the Penn State‑styled night game. The first 2,000 fans will receive specially designed T‑shirts courtesy of sponsor Courtesy Kia, adding an extra layer of excitement to the already electric atmosphere.
Honoring the Past
Both programs will pay tribute to their storied histories, recalling the 2001 PIAA semifinal teams that laid the groundwork for future success. Altoona will celebrate its 2021 victory over Cathedral Prep, while Hollidaysburg looks back on its own recent dominance, having posted a 13‑1 record in both 2023 and 2024.
At the heart of the ceremony is Guido D'Elia, a 1965 Altoona graduate and the visionary behind the White Out concept. D'Elia will serve as the game's honorary captain, lending his legacy to a night that promises to blend nostalgia with fresh competition.
Current Rosters and Key Players
Altoona enters the matchup with a potent mix of experience and talent. Quarterback Mekhi Jackson returns to lead the offense, while linebacker Luke Geishauser, the conference’s top tackler last season, anchors a defense that could feature as many as five linebackers. Across the field, Hollidaysburg will rely on Carter Muth, a 2,000‑yard rusher who has become the centerpiece of a relentless ground attack.
The rivalry, historically intense, has seen Altoona win the last three meetings, yet Hollidaysburg’s recent back‑to‑back 13‑1 seasons have shifted the narrative. The teams share a long‑standing friendship, competing together in AAU and club leagues, which adds a unique camaraderie to the competition. Social media connections between players from both schools have further amplified the buzz, creating a storyline that extends beyond the gridiron.
As kickoff approaches, the atmosphere is charged with anticipation. Fans can expect a night where tradition meets modern flair, where the echoes of past triumphs mingle with the promise of new heroes emerging under the White Out lights.
