The Park Home Altoona Classic, a 23‑team single‑elimination baseball tournament, opens today in Altoona, Pennsylvania, bringing together three local youth baseball leagues in a weekend of competition.
Altoona’s Baseball Scene Heats Up
The event is being staged by the Altoona Area Baseball Association and will be played exclusively at John Kraft Field, where opening ceremonies are slated for 5 p.m., followed by two opening‑round games at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Defending champions Greenwood Meadows, representing the East End Youth Baseball League, aim to extend their three‑year title run as they join the field of contenders.
Later this afternoon, the Pennsylvania District 11 12U championship will pit Hollidaysburg against Mount Union at 6 p.m.; a victory for Hollidaysburg would secure the district crown and a berth in the Section 4 tournament.
Meanwhile, the Veterans Memorial Field Classic, a 14U tournament, will commence Saturday at 9 a.m. with six teams battling for supremacy on the diamond.
Looking ahead, the 2026 Courtesy Kia Little World Series is set to run from July 18 to July 25 at Centennial Field, where thirteen teams from five area leagues will compete for the ultimate honor.
