Amarri Monroe, the 6‑foot‑7, 220‑pound forward who dominated the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference last season, has officially pledged to join the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball program.
The Eligibility Twist
The commitment comes after a Colorado court decision that granted the graduate an additional year of eligibility, allowing him to re‑enter the transfer portal and pursue a new destination.
Monroe’s statistical profile reads like that of a complete player: he averaged 15.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.3 steals and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 27.5 percent from three‑point range.
His rebounding prowess placed him at the top of the MAAC in total rebounds and defensive boards, a skill set that helped Quinnipiac secure its first-ever victory over a Power Five opponent, Pittsburgh, with a season‑high 25 points.
The Newburgh, New York native first honed his game at South Kent School in Connecticut before a stint at Wofford College and two productive years at Quinnipiac, where he earned MAAC Player of the Year honors as a junior and secured All‑MAAC First Team recognition in his final two seasons.
Syracuse’s coaching staff sees Monroe as a versatile frontcourt piece who can stretch the floor, protect the rim and anchor a defense that has been seeking a dominant rebounder.
