Amaya Battle, a former University of Minnesota basketball standout, has officially signed a contract with Logiman Broni, an Italian professional women’s basketball team based in Broni, Lombardy, that competes in the Serie A1 league.
From Minnesota to Lombardy
Battle’s collegiate career at the University of Minnesota was marked by 1,533 points, 776 rebounds and 599 assists over four seasons, placing her among the program’s all‑time leaders in scoring, rebounds and assists.
She earned the 2022 Minnesota State High School League Ms. Basketball honor, captured two state championships at Hopkins High School, and helped the Gophers reach their first Sweet 16 appearance in more than two decades, a milestone she cites as proof of her commitment to building Minnesota’s basketball legacy.
After completing her college eligibility, Battle received an invitation to training camp with the Minnesota Lynx, the WNBA franchise she had previously represented on a two‑way contract. There she reconnected with Lindsay Whalen, her former college coach, who praised the opportunity to see Battle compete alongside other aspiring professionals.
Although she was ultimately waived, the camp experience opened the door to overseas opportunities, and Battle will now begin her international career with Logiman Broni, joining a league where many WNBA players hone their skills during the offseason.
The 2026‑27 Serie A1 season is scheduled to run from October through April, giving Battle a full campaign to develop her game and potentially attract further interest from the WNBA or other professional circuits.
