Conference Keeps 18‑Game Format
The American Conference unveiled its complete 2026‑27 men's basketball schedule, confirming that each of the league’s members will again play an 18‑game season. The format blends six home‑and‑home series with six split contests that alternate between home and road venues, preserving the competitive balance that has defined the league in recent years.
Temple University’s slate features familiar rivals and new challenges. The Owls will meet South Florida, UAB, Tulane, East Carolina, Rice and UTSA in home‑and‑home pairings, while also hosting single games against Wichita State, Memphis and Tulsa at the Liacouras Center. On the road, Temple travels to face Charlotte, North Texas and Florida Atlantic for standalone matchups.
The regular season kicks off on December 30, 2026, and will run through March 7, 2027. Conference play will culminate with the American Conference Men’s Basketball Championship from March 10 to March 14 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, where the league’s top teams will compete for the title.
Beyond the schedule, the announcement signals a continued emphasis on regional rivalries and balanced travel, factors that coaches say help foster competitive depth across the league. Fans can expect a packed slate of games that blend tradition with fresh matchups as the conference prepares for another exciting year of college basketball.
