American Legion Post 12 baseball teams drop doubleheader to Alliance

Juniors and seniors each lose, with seniors set to host the Wood Bat Tournament this weekend

The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors and seniors traveled to Alliance, Nebraska, to meet the local Spartans in a weekend doubleheader that drew considerable community attention. The games took place on the same day, allowing fans to witness two closely contested matchups between the two age‑group teams.

Juniors' struggles

The junior squad entered the game with high hopes but quickly fell behind as Alliance erupted for three runs in the opening inning. By the third inning the Spartans had piled on eight runs, securing a 14‑1 victory. Kacen Bach contributed a triple, while Kole Carnahan and Zander Slingsby added singles, but the offense could not overcome the early deficit.

Seniors' narrow defeat

The senior team faced a more competitive contest. Alliance built a 4‑0 lead after two innings, but Chadron answered with a six‑run burst in the fifth. Runs from Derek Bissonette and Aksel Lans, driven in via RBI singles and loaded‑walk opportunities, narrowed the gap. Tobin Landen later added a run in the seventh, but Alliance sealed an 8‑7 win with an RBI double in the bottom of the frame. Creighton Ryan collected two hits, and Bissonette was credited with two runs driven in.

The junior squad will enjoy a week off before returning to action, while the senior team prepares to host the Chadron Wood Bat Tournament this weekend, an event that promises to showcase local talent and draw visitors from across the region.
