A vibrant hockey celebration
The eighth annual Amerigol LATAM Cup will open on August 1 at the Florida Panthers IceDen in Florida, gathering 68 teams and approximately 1,500 players across nine divisions. The event showcases the sport’s expanding reach in Latin America, the Caribbean and beyond, drawing participants from a mosaic of cultures and communities.
The tournament is made possible through a grant from the Florida Panthers Foundation, highlighting the organization’s commitment to fostering hockey development on an international scale. Organizers have emphasized that many athletes travel from regions where ice time and structured programs are scarce, underscoring the significance of this gathering.
Opening weekend will feature an International Para Ice Hockey Showcase, presenting exhibition games by accomplished para ice hockey players. Following the showcase, free “Try Sled Hockey” clinics will be offered to the public, inviting newcomers to experience the sport firsthand.
A Skills Competition scheduled for Sunday will challenge youth players born between 2009 and 2015 in events such as hardest shot and fastest skater. The competition adds a festive atmosphere for families and scouts alike, celebrating emerging talent.
Mid‑week, the inaugural Dynasty LATAM Cup International All‑Star Games will spotlight the tournament’s top young stars, offering a preview of the next generation of hockey talent. The event is part of a broader effort to connect young athletes with mentors and opportunities.
The competition will culminate on August 9 with championship finals in the U12 Legacy, Men’s Division II, Women’s Division I and Men’s Division I categories. In addition to the on‑ice action, organizers are collecting essential items for families in Venezuela as part of the tournament’s community outreach.
